  1. Hi everybody i'm a just a newbie here, it's my first post.

I'm really desesperate, because since i installed "Panther" on my computer (i did a clean install) i'm no more able to copy my own DVDs.
Using OS 10.2.8 I was using DVDBackup and DVD2One without any trouble. Now since I installed OSX 10.3 I cannot use DVD2One.
I already tryed to reinstall OS 10.2.8 on an other partition, but I have the same touble.
I also tryed to use OSex, but DVD2One alway quits.

(I also tryed to copy all these applications in my system from a Toast disk .img).

Do you think possible, Apple puted some DVD anti-copy protection on it's new system ?

Does anybody is able to copy his own DVDs using DVDBackup and DVD2One using Panther ?

    Any idea ?

    Thanks a lot

PS : I'm even no more able to rip some DVDs I did already using DVDBackup and DVD2One under my old 10.2 system.

i have panther, they work fine for me.
    So do lots of us...

what is it that happens exactly with dvd2one.....
    1. does it even open at all?
    2. does it just open and then quit during processing?
    3. have you contacted dvd2one and asked them about this?

i upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.3 and am now on 10.3.2 and still have no problems using DVDbackup or DVD2ONE

hope you can get this settled

    Thanks for your fast response.

    1. does it even open at all?
Yes it opens and he begins the process.
    2. does it just open and then quit during processing?
Yes it quits telling me it needs the full DVD for processing.
    3. have you contacted dvd2one and asked them about this?
    I neved did that

DVD2One begins the process, then quits telling me that the process needs the full DVD. And my 10.3 (Panther) system is screwed.

    It's so sad....

Dumb question, but are you ripping the whole DVD, or are you having DVDBackup rip some files and not others?

another dumb question....When you installed Panther you said you cleanly installed. How did you install or re-install
DVD2One and DVDBackup? Did you clean install these as well?
Last, after installign Panther, did you do the mantra of the Ancient One?

    1. Run Cocktail, fixing permissions and clearing caches
    2. run FSCK -Y in Safe Mode
    3. Run Cocktail again, forcing Pre-binding on the System folder.

Yes I did "clean install" on a new formated partion for Panther and I reinstalled DVDBackup and DVD2one on this partition, but I did never try to use "cocktail".

I'll do a try with it. Tkx.

so when you use DVDBackup do you process ALL files or do you delete some from the list then process.

or after its backed up do you remove files from the folder???

you must be doing something to the VIDEO_TS folder you get as a result of the backup.

because dvd2one only gives you that error when parts of the dvd its processing are missing...

you ccant just pull files over to your desktop from the dvd and assume its been copied properly. You MUST use a backup software and then it MUST to ALL the files. Then dvd2one MUST see the WHOLE dvd while its processing............ or you get an error like you do

your post is misleading because it sounds like the apps are working just fine.

    can you verify this...

I did process all files just as use to did before under Jaguar. I've been able to make copy of my own DVDs under Jaguar, using DVDBackup and DVD2One without any trouble.
My wife just did offers me Panther for Xmax, i just installed it on my computer the dec 25th (a clean installation on a fresh initialised partition) and since the latest dec 25th i'm no more able to use both DVDBackup and DVD2one.
I also tryed to use OSEx before using DVD2One and DVD2One also crashed during the process.

Are you using the latest version of DVD2OneX? Make sure you have the latest one, available here.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

I still point to the fact that he hasn't done Cocktail ater installing Panther,
nor has he re-pre-bound his files following a major OS install,
two things you should NEVER do or let go for long.

Let's see what happens after he does Cocktail and fsck-y.
Cocktail can be gotten at http://www.versiontracker.com for the Panther version.

Hi, you're not shooting in the wind

yes I did a new install of Panther on a fresh initialized partition.
Yes I used the latest Stuffit 8.02

During the process, each time since i'm running Panther, the latest DVD2One 1.3, give me the same alert message :
"The logical block number does not match with the actual position in the file.
Make sure you copy all files from the DVD to HD in file mode".

I just did a new try this afternoon, with an other DVD I already copy with success (DVDBackup + DVD2One under OS 10.2), using "hades" Hades worked fine but I got the same error using DVD2One.

I really regret to have bought and installed Panther on my computer...

Thanks for the "Hades" developpers work.

    PS:
for terryj : I took a look to "Cocktail" but I've not been able to use it because it's a shareware, they make you pay without really getting a chance to try it

I bought and I use TechTool Pro 4 now.
