xlr8yourmac.com today posted a download link for a beta version of Patchburn II. This is a patch that may enable your unsupported CD/DVD drive to burn with iTunes, iPhoto and Finder (Disc Utility) in OS 10.3.x. It might even work for iDVD with some non-Apple supported DVD drives.
Thanks to this patch my Sony DW-U14A DVD burner (in a firewire/USB 2 case) now can burn directly from Apple's apps other than iDVD (which I don't have and can't test; plus it's an external drive so it wouldn't work anyway).
