I have a movie that I can't burn. It's in PAL format. How to I convert it to a format that Nero will burn?

That depends. Are you in PAL land, or NTSC? What format is the video currently in? I.e. AVI, MPEP, etc.? What are you trying to make? A VCD, SVCD, DVD? We need more info before we can really help.

  3. DVD DECRYPTOR - RIP
    DVD SHRINK - COMPRESS
    NERO - BURN

Pal is not a problem (I've done it but burnt image w/ Decryptor)

But he didn't say it was a DVD. It could be an AVI, MPEG, etc. And he doesn't say if the standard for his area is PAL, or NTSC - he may be trying to convert it from PAL to NTSC. There may be more going on here than just trying to copy a DVD, especially since this is in the "newbie/general" forum, instead of the "DVD to DVDR" forum...

As specified in the few posts before this, what is your source (AVI, MPEG, DVD) and what are you trying to burn in Nero ? (VCD, DVD etc)
    If in doubt, Google it.

the video is on my computer. There's no dvd I got the video from somebody. It's an avi and it even says dvd rip in the filename. I'm in NTSC land. I couldn't even get Nero to burn it in pal format either. I'm trying ato burn it onto a memorex dvd+r 4.7gb. I was going to burn it as a vcd because it was too long to be a svcd.

You need to do some conversion to it first. You can burn it using the VCD structure onto a DVD but you need to adhere to certain conventions. That is why Nero won't let you burn it. There are a number of things you could do - convert to VCD and burn on CDR, convert to SVCD and burn to a couple of CDRs, or burn as a DVD-VCD. Whatever option you choose, you will not be able to use your existing AVi - you will need to do some conversion.
    If in doubt, Google it.

There are plenty of Guides under convert on the left hand side. If you do not wish to read them I can spell it out for you:

Get the free version of TMPGEnc. Go to File > Project wizard. Select the template that suits your purpose (probably NTSC VCD). Hit start button to commence conversion. Burn the output file using Nero.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Or use the Low Resolution DVD template in TMPGEnc.

Thanks for your help. Actuall, there's a ton of options that only a skilled converter would know though.
