  1. Hey guys.

Ive been evaluating AnyDVD and CloneDVD together. The first few DVD's I have backed up have worked fine. However, I have tried to back up DVD's with a different region and AnyDVD doesnt hide the region.

CloneDVD sees the CSS and refuses to back up the disc.

Any ideas where I may be going wrong here?

Also, my Father is evaluating both applications on his computer, and after CloneDVD begins to create the vob files, my dads PC just reboots. Any ideas what is happening here?

    Thanks in advance.

I am also evaluating AnyDVD and so far no complaints... Then again I am using Intervideo Dvdcopy with it.(it's my own). I couldn't copy a Hindi copyrighted DVD , and the moment I downloaded anyDVD. Volia

  3. If your father is running XP the reboot is probably happening because of some error. Instead of BSODing it just reboots itself. I forgot how to turn it off, but you might want to find a way to, so at least you know what is going wrong.

  4. Thanks for the info nufan.

So is it a problem with AnyDVD or CloneDVD? I have no idea about BSOD or which application uses it.

    Thanks for the info though.

BSOD stand for 'Blue Screen Of Death'. To turn off the automatic reboots do this:

    Right click My Computer.
    Go to the 'Advanced' tab.
At the bottom there is the section of 'Startup and Recovery', click on the settings button for that.
Once the next screen comes up uncheck 'Restart Automatically'

Once you do that you will get a Blue Screen with an error next time you encounter it.
Copy the error or find the error log (C:\Documents and Settings\UserAccount\My Documents\Security\Logs\DatabaseName.log) and post that up if you still get and error.

Once you do that we can determine if it is AnyDVD or CloneDVD.

Also if you don't have the absolute latest versions, get them.

And... if you're using *gasp* a pirated version, be aware that the cracked versions often are broken in a myriad of bizarre and interesting ways.

  7. Gurm.

People have said before to me about pirated versions being dodgy. I am using evaluated versions. If I can get them to work okay then I will be happy to pay. I would only look for "piracy" (which I am not condoning here!) if I wished to extend the trial or if the price was ridiculously out of my budhet range.

I think it is an older version of AnyDVD that I just never got the chance to install but there may be a newer versionj available. I know that I have the latest version of CloneDVD because I dled it from the EB site about a week ago.

    Adam,

I will certainly check out the BSOD issue. Thanks alot!
