  1. I need to do some simple authoring. I recorded a DVD with the Liteon 5001
but I had to split the movie into two titles, one in SP mode and one in EP mode. The result is a DVD that cannot be copied by the usual software: DVD Decrypter, DVDShrink 3.0b5, Clone DVD. They all give an error message when I try to rip in any mode except DVD files. So I can copy the DVD files to my hard drive OK. Now it should be easy to re-author and burn a compliant DVD but how?

    TIA

  2. A simple easy to use program that works well and will import VOB files is NeoDVD Plus . I use it to edit and re-author VOB files.

  3. use DVD Shrink

Select open disk, and then choose the dvdfiles that you just rip, and then re-author and backup

    this should work

  4. DVDShrink won't open the disk, it gives error message, even tho the disk
plays in all standalone players and can be read by Windows. The problem seems to be the .ifo and .bup files on the disk. The "Open Files" menu on DVDSHrink wants an .ifo file so it won't work either.
I have Arcsoft SHowbiz - came with the HP burner. I have not used Showbiz yet but it looks like it will let me import the .vob files and burn them as a menuless DVD. This may be good enough if it works.

  5. How about using the same technique used for creating a VCD from ripped .VOB files?
Use DVD2AVI to create a .WAV audio track and .d2v frameserving file
Load the above into TMPGenc Plus and select the DVD template. Adjust bitrate/quality to suit and re-encode. This will give you a series of pure MPEG2 files, which you can then use any DVD authoring app to add menus and chapters.

  6. DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc takes too long.
You can simple use IFOEdit (free tool) to recreate the IFO and BUP files
That's much much quicker and preserve the original quality of the VOB files. neoDVD Plus can do the job too but this software is not free, and it will keep only single audio stream.
