Can anyone tell me if it matters how dark the dye is on a DVD-R? The reason I ask is cause when I do a test on my media with DVDinfo pro I always seem to get errors with discs with the light purple. But when I do a test with discs with the dark dye I get no errors. Does it mean the darker dye discs are better discs? If so, can someone recommend a brand with the darker dye?

Its a myth, there was a huge thread about this a long time ago. The Color of the dye to your eye does not really matter. Its the quality of the media and the chemical makeup of their disc that make the difference.

Cool, thanks for the reply. I just wish I new the brand of discs these dark purple discs I used are. When I put them in DVDinfo pro it doesn't have a name of the disc so I have no idea what they are.
