Hi all,
My first post and I hope you guys can rescue me.
I recently learned about the wonders of SVCD and VCD.
I checked on this site what my player (the wonderful Sony NS 300) can play and can't.
I got the necessary CD-RW's in (Maxwell and Fuij both work fine).
Got the necessary software (TMPGenc, Vitrualdub, VCDeasy, EasyVideoConvertor etc). Already had good burn software (NERO 6.0) and had done a small test run with a DivX file which I converted etc and GOT TO WORK. HipHipHooray.
I went to work, found myself a movie I would like to see and downed it. I already was sorted for VCD use and encassed in a .rar. Unpacked the bugger, Had 2 CD's, unpacked each one again, got a .bin and .cue for each CD, busted the .bin fiel with Isobuster, extracted the .mpg file, burned it using NERO, played it in my DVD player. BLACK AND WHITE.
Arghhhhhh!!!
OK,don't give up, burned the .bin file as an image. Payed it, B&W. Arghhhh! And noticed that the DVD player started displaying the NTSC sign.
Started searching the net for solutions. You knwo, Being from Europe I would need a PAL version.
OK, simple convert the NTSC to PAL and voila.
Just finished doing that by using the very slow process of TMPGenc (as if converting from DIVX, splitting audio and visual and saving agian as a new PAL mpg) on CD1.
CD2 was done by extracting and renaming the .bin file to a .mpg file (only filtering the M2F2 files) using ISObuster.
Then using Easy Video Convertor to convert the .mpg from NTSC to PAL.
Guess what? CD2 played back in B&W. Arghhhhh!
CD1 I was gonnan try now (TMPGEnc finaly finished a 24hour workshift to convert 1 CD of about 44min.) until I read the below question on the DVD player comments section about the Sony NS 300:
>> Could you tell me if I use SVCD and XVCD format if disk which are burned as PAL will be ok on PAL TV ? I mean is the picture colored ?
I ask this question because I have read on that forum this : "In UK SVCD cannot be played as the player defaults to NTSC mode even if disk is burned as PAL, they play back in black and white or in most cases not at all."<<
Well, that little snippet of info got my hopes up.
I am presuming that this is the problem I am having.
Does anybody maybe know what the problem is I am having with getting the movie (Bad Santa and not out over here (Belgium) yet).
What I have done wrong or what I could do to fix this problem (i know buy a proper DVD player).
I am getting seriously frustrated by the problem and I know the movie should be in color cause I played a bit of it on my PC in color.
Further info is that the picture and sound are OK and I burn a at startling 4X speed as that trully is topgear for my PC.
Thanks for reading all of the above info and helping me.
Greetings

First of all, iooi, thanks for pointing out the Warez rule. I was just trying to provide as much info about my problem and the software/warez/hardware that were possibly part of this problem.
Won't do it again.
To answer your second point.
OK,don't give up, burned the .bin file as an image. Payed it, B&W. Arghhhh! And noticed that the DVD player started displaying the NTSC sign.
I do ave a small update thogh.
TPMPEnc finally finished encoding CD1 (splitting sound from .dat file, merging everything again mater as a PAL) and it worked. CD1 is in color.
I have also dicoverd the Conversion onf the cheap page and tried it but can't seem to get the ;avs part right as i get an error message when the .avs file is entered as the videosource.
Something about the (.
I am supposed to file in the following
DirectShowSource("DRIVE:\PATH\AVSEQxx.dat")
ConvertFPS(25)
LanczosResize(352,288)
ConvertToRGB()
I replaced the DRIVE:\PATH\AVSEQxx.dat with the correct path, but don't know whethr to take the ( and " away or not.
Same with the other lines, do i need to change what is in between the () or delete it altogether?
OK, i know how to get it to play in color and my question is sort of answered. The encoding took more than 24hrs though and there must be a faster way. Any suggestions.
Thanks everyone.
