I would suggest looking at an ATI All In Wonder card.

  3. I've had my best success with an ATI AIW 7500 Radeon.
Can capture MPEG2 and uncompressed AVI up to 720x480 with no dropped frames.

Get a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250. It's the best card out there for this price range, captures directly to Mpeg2 and you can burn the results to DVD without re-encoding.

    Macgvyer:

According to the database here at DVDRHelp, there are only three capture cards that capture realtime to MPEG1,2,4. See: https://www.videohelp.com/capturecards.php?CaptureCard=&mpeg1=1&mpeg2=1&mpeg4=1&searchco...&Search=Search

I suggest you settle for MPEG-2, or like many of us do capture to AVI and convert. At any rate you can do many different kinds of searches and read user's comments and evaluations here: https://www.videohelp.com/capturecards

  6. I 2nd the Haupppauge. With some tweaks here and there, it's tough to beat, even by MUCH more costly cards. The Hauppauge PVR-250 does hardware encoding of both video and audio.

If your going to capture to MPEG2 I suggest you look at a card or box that has hardware encode rather that software encode.
