  1. Hello to all, i am backing up another movie i have, The Matrix Reloaded, and the movie is 138 min in length. What birate settings do i need to configure?

Under this setting, I have all of the columns set to 2's and 1's and the CD size for all is 800 MB. I want this movie to fit to AT LEAST 3 CDR'S.

Do I need to set setting to 2 to 3 cds? My max average video birate is 2230. What about the audio of the SVCD? I used 224 for the audio birate, but does that take up alot of space of the SVCD?

No offense intended YoGotti, but why would you want to back up to SVCD and onto three CDs when with free ware DVDshrink you couold make a direct backup after re-encoding some onto DVD. Assuming of course you have a DVD / Burner. I understand if you don't although they are really comming down in price, expecially for internal IDE drives. Something to consider. As far as what bit rate to use?? Good question. Do you have a good bit rate calculator? Even with that, you never seem to get a good accurate setting verus final file size. Back when I was converting to DIVX, I had to try several times due the final file exceeding or falling too far under the CDs capacity. I used to use DVDx which would encode to MPG1 ( VCD ) - MPG2 ( SVCD ) and MPG-4 ( DIVX ) directly as the disk was being read. So basically it was a single step rather that have to first rip and then convert. As the file was being created it diplayed the estimated final file size which would fluctuate a bit depending on the slow versus fast actions portions of the movie.

    Take care

  4. Thanks, jtoolman, I really appreciate your response. Unfortunately, I do not have a DVD Burner, just a CD-R/CD-RW burner. My only option is SVCD. See, my problem is i let my brother borrow my DVD The Matrix Reloaded. I won't see this DVD in 2 weeks, but thank god, i ripped all of the VOB files off the disk. What DVD to SVCD programs will work with JUST THE VOB files? I know some progams such as Eazy VCD, require the actual DVD disc. Any help would be good. Thanks.

Get DVD2SVCD. It's simple and does an Awesome job. Shoot for 3 CDR's and you will be very happy iwth the results (including Dolby Surround Downmix of the 5.1 Audio).

  6. In the birate column of DVD2SVCD, i choose for first, 2 CD's, and i got 5 CD IMAGES AT THE END. The same for when i shot for 3 CD's, I GOT 5 CD IMAGES.

What am i doing wrong? By the way i am backing The Matrix Reloaded (4x3). The movie is 138 mins in length. What shoould i change in the settings of DVD2SVCD to get just 3 CD images?

You aren't reading what the colums say, you have to change the times to match the movie to hit the correct number of CD's .
