THANKS.

If it reads fine in VirtualDub, then load it in VDub, then frame serve it to TMPGEnc for encoding.
This sounds like the classic XviD problem. Usually remedied by installing ffdshow.

  5. Definately sounds like a codec issue. Have you installed a codec pack, these can cause conflicts and these sorts of problems. My suggestion would be to uninstall all codecs that you have on your system and then just install the ones that you need individually.

yea i have installed gordian knot codec pack. and that did nothing for me. because i can't uninstall xvid codec. also i can't unregister xvid.ax that is the main problem with the whole uninstall process. oh and by the way i do have a life. i goto school, work, and do other ciricullar activities. it only take about 10 mins of my time to load in the avi files and then click convert. then turn off the monitor and come back in a couple hours. does any one else have any comments to help me? anything i don't even care if you don't know. just say you don't know. that way i know someone cares. THANK YOU.

Sorry about that part - It wasn't meant as criticism (well, at least not harsh). Merry X-Mas!

It has been three weeks now and i still can't get it. i don't know what to do anymore. i don't know what it is that is making this problem happen. i don't know if there is a program that is making this happen. i have tried to uninstall all the codecs and i don't know if i left one out that probably wasn't in add/remove programs. i have no idea. please there has to be someone out there that can help me. the screen is grey, green, pink, all sorts of different colors at different times. please someone out there please tell me an idea. i don't care if it works or not at least someone cares about this problem. i am sure there is someone else out there that has had this problem also. and will have this problem in the future that this forum topic will help. please and thank you.

Sounds like you're in for a complete fresh install of your OS. It's 99.9% certain that it's a codec problem. But again, if VirtualDub can read your file, then use VDub and frame serve to your encoder. But then again, in the long run it seems like a fresh install is needed, so maybe better to take the plunge rightawy?
