    Hi there DVD backup fans.
Is there a program that allows me to set the cmopression ratio for video and audio, to make every DVD+R be as close to 4.5GB as possible? Right now I'm using DVD decrypter, and DVD2One 1.2.3, and they both work great. However, I noticed that when I go to Nero 6 to burn it, I see that DVD2One has compressed the movie and audio so much that sometimes my DVD+R are only 4.0GB. That is a whole 500MB waisted of unesesary compression. I would like to keep my DVD+R as close to 4.5MB as possible (to keep the quality the best as possible). Can someone help? Thank you for any helpfull info.

see the drop down below the destination field.

  4. Lord Pitufo, you could also try DVD Shrink.
It is much more flexible than DVD2One and free.

v3.1 is coming out at the end of the week, so you might want to wait a few days.

If you want to get a feel of what DVD Shrink can do and how it does it:

And also, the latest v.3 versions seem to produce (marginally) better picture quality compared to DVD2One. And also allow you to selectivelly remove things and compress things you don't really need (like trailers) into still pictures while retaining the overall menu structure...

BTW, I have never had the problem you described. If the original DVD is more than 4.36 (after removing the soundtracks you don't want to keep), DVD2One would always produce 4.36 size files. Only if by removing the soundtracks I didn't want the content became less than 4.36, did DVD2One produce a smaller size fileset. And then it processed things quite fast (~4min) since it didn't compress at all.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

Are you able to take chapters from other decrypted movies and combine them all in 1 dvd+r? Like chapters from 3 differents dvds and combine them into one DVD+R?

Thank all of you for your help!

Because you want to stay away from the outter edge of the disc. This is especially important with lower quality media (i.e. anything other than Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, Ritek etc). The good discs are usually immune too this issue but it is still a good idea.

Video on the outter edge of these cheaper discs is often choppy, blocky etc. and your player will have issues with it.

  18. Maybe silly to mention...
But I have the same thing sometimes, but it's normal when you select 'movie only' and the movie only is 3,5 gb itself .

Some dvd's are full of useless extra's....

I guess DVD2ONE doesn't increase quality to make it 4,38 gb

    Cheers...
