About 1 month ago, I upgraded my LG-4040B to the newest firmware update. For about 6 months, I had some DVD-RW's that were sitting in a box, collecting dust. I had planned to sell them on Ebay because when I first bought my 4040b, for whatever reason, it would not burn on DVD-RW's of any type. The ones I have are TDK 2x -RW's, and the cheapie GQ (Great Quality) 1x -RW's. Well, just for the hrck of it, I pulled them out of the box to try them out. To my pleasant surprise, BOTH types of DVD-RW's burned in the 4040B. If you have this drive, and don't have it upgraded to the newest firmware (which is A302), I suggest that you do so. For me, this experience was a wakeup call to how important installing firmware upgrades can be.

With computers it's ALWAYS strange. Computers are like people, no 2 are exactly the same, even though they all have the same basic parts. What works on one many times won't work on another.
