  1. I tried to use Windows Media Encoder v9. to convert my AVI's to WMV's for streaming purposes. The AVI's are coming from my Canon S400 digital camera. When I start the application and choose the avi the program just closes. There have been a couple of times that an error was displayed.
I remember back when talking to someone about the video output from the cannon cameras. I was told that the files were not really avi's but repackaged as them. Can anyone lend a hand?
The movies according to the manual are 15fps.

    Thanks

  3. I am not really stuck on getting this file to a WMV but anything that Windows Media Encoder can convert to a WMV is fine.
I have also tried MPEG4 Direct Maker which can't seem to do anything with the file. I have tried MPG and AVI and all I get is the jumpy video with inconsistant audio.

    Thanks again.

I have a Cannon S400. I took one of the movie files and put it into Windows Movie Maker and it converted to WMV with no problem. The file size went from 2.38M to 592K and the framerate from 15fps to 7.5fps, but it was watchable and would probably be fine for the internet.
