Forcing DVD2VCD to make XVCDs

DVD2VCD is basically a script-controlling GUI shell for a whole bunch of other freeware programs.

Its initial setup allows for DVD, SVCD, or VCD outputs, at least when TMPEG is the encoder.

Now, TMPEG can be set up with its own scripts for XVCDs, for example. Is there a way of digging into or intercepting the DVD2VCD process in order to achieve (non-standard) XVCDs ? Or do I just replace the VCD mcf file in the TMPEG directory with one "doctored" for the features I want, such as higher resolution and higher bit rate, but still using MPEG-1 ?

I've used DVD2SVCD a lot, but I'm not sure if I can answer your question. I would suspect that the template is in the DVD2SVCD program, not in TMPGEnc. I have used the same TMPGEnc program for other encoding and whatever changes I've made have no effect on the DVD2SVCD program. With that said, I would explore the files in the DVD2SVCD folder and you would probably find the template you need. Most of these type of templates are easily edited, even with notepad. Give it a try. Also look in the Doom9 website; What you are asking may have already been done.
