  1. I am making a video and I need some (static/snow) clip to be inserted into the video for effect.
Does anyone know where I can find clips or how to make my own clips with the sound as well. Thanks in advance.

depending on your software, you can make your own.

what editing software are you using? if it has filters, it may have a "noise" or "grain" filter that you can apply over a plain black background.

for the audio, see if your audio editing software can generate tones - if it can, it should have a white noise generator. if not, Audacity is a good, freeware cross-platform editor which can generate the static audio.

or go low tech - do a video capture from a source that's turned to an unused tv channel.

  3. I am using Premiere Pro... I will see if I can use noise and get a good result.
I have Audition as well, I am not sure if you can generate tones as I haven't really had a chance to use it.
I thought about the last idea you have, but the problem is that the devices I use have that blue screen thing when there is an used station or signal. If I could turn that off, then I could just capture some.
If you have any other suggestions, I am surely up for them as this is for a company skit video we do every year for a conference my company goes to. Thanks

unless Adobe stripped out the "Generate" section when they bought that product, it should - it certainly did when it was Cool Edit Pro....

  5. Well I opened up After Effects and made an animated noise clips with an effects that animated it for you. Worked perfectly. Then opened audition and made a empty wav and generated white noise. Save the audio and brought them back into premiere.... booyah.
Thanks for the help... I would have not known about generating white noise to get that effect.

no problem - glad it worked out for you.

and like I said, unless Adobe has done something to seriously hork the program up, Audition / CoolEdit is a great audio editor.

is Audition a stereo audio editor, or will it do multitrack editing as well?

  7. Yes, it will do multi-track editing. It will also allow you to do 5.1 audio, which is cool. I watched a demo where they were adjusting the sounds to come from and pan across the different speakers in the 5.1 set up.
