Okay... I'm really not good with this stuff... So I really hope somebody can tell me what the crap is going on with my drive... or if I'm just an idiot... that would be helpful too.

Here's the problem: I have a Lite-On LDW-400D with firmware 1.2d. I just barely updated from 1.2b but the problem remains.

Whenever I put a blank Dvd-r in my drive, the drive immediately decides that it wants to be a regular CD-rom. In "My Computer" when I put a blank disc in (and I've tried LOTs of discs of different brands, they all do the same thing) it says: "CD Drive (E Type: Cd Drive"

It's driving me crazy because this very expensive piece of equipment will not do jack for me... I've authored simple movies with it before in the past, but all I want to do is make a simple Data DVD and it refuses to admit that it's a dvd burner...

grr... I hope somebody smarter than me can tell me what I'm doing wrong. It's extremely frustrating.
