  1. 1.I followed the avi to dvd guide and got to the part where im supposed to demux and save the **ac3** file! but when i load up my avi it says right away that it has detected an imporer VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file (audio stream 1). and than when i go to the place where you demux it saves it as an **MP3** file and not **AC3**.. what should i do?

    2. in the Gspot when i loaded my avi file it calculated it and said that the audio bitrate is: 114 kb/s. and than when i get to the part with the bitrate calculator where i need to choose the audio bitrate it doesn't show any 114 kb/s! there's no such thing! what does this mean? what should i do?

    URGENT! thx

  2. Hello pupik,
    1. Your audio is actually an mp3 file not AC3. When you demux the avi it is saving the file as it actually is. Instead of demuxing choose "save wav." The VBR (mp3) file will be converted to a wav file which you can load into TMPG. TMPG doesn't handle VBR audio well so you must save it as a wav file first. When you load the avi into TMPG in the video window it will show up in both the video window and the audio window. Just click on the audio button and load the wav file you saved. It will replace the VBR audio in the wav file. You can now convert it to vcd, svcd, or dvd.
    2. Avi standards are different from mpg standards. When you are using a bitrate calculator for converting to mpg, it will show the mpg standards. Since 114 kb/s is not a standard for mpg, you won't see it.

  3. thx but still got questions

    about 1: what's TMPG?
about 2: but I am supposed to choose a bitrate according to the guide! the guide says that it's usually 448 and mine is far from that! and it doesn't even exist as a real bitrate so what do i do now?

  4. I am assuming you are using this guide; https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/186739.php.
1.TMPG is short for TMPGenc which is the encoder used in the guide I've linked to.
    2. Again the bitrate of your avi doesn't matter, only the bitrate you use when you encode the film.

Do you want your converted film to have AC3 audio?

  5. look i don't even understand what ac3 means... i just try to follow the guide and according to what they say it is important to know and enter a correct bitrate.. (what i wrote till here refers to both 1 and 2) so i'll tell you my case:
i have a movie wich is about 680 megs.. what do i do from here to be able to go to my roxio dvd builder (cause i like making the movie fancy ) and burn it to a dvd movie?
cause according to what you say (example):
the bitrate of your avi doesn't matter
so if it doesnt matter you must know an other way to maek a dvd not like this guide.
I really don't know what is AC3 i just want to burn my movie ...
so can u tell me what do i do?

  6. Try this guide;https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm. It's much easier for a newbie. In step 2 of the guide you should use the wav file you saved for the audio. Again in the streams section of VDub choose save wav, not demux. This will give you that wav file you need. Load the avi in the video window of TMPGenc and then load the wav file in the audio window. Just follow the rest of the directions in guide provided in the above link.

  7. i did everything exactly like it says but the wav file that i batch with the video doesnt play! it's only the video and when i open it to hear it it's ok but when i click preview it shows only the movie! what can i do to make it batch the audio too?

  8. I believe the preview function is only for viewing the file, not hearing it. As long as you have a valid wav file in the audio window of TMPGenc you will have audio in your final mpg file.

  9. are you POSTIVE cause when I was even more of a newbie on my first day with dvd's i tried to encode the avi into an mpg when both the video stream and audio stream were the avi (no wav) and when it finished it had no sound!

    so:
    1. have it supposed to have no sound cause i have to make a wave? i mean so it's ok that it didn't work than?
    2. if i do this now with the wav will it work? if i follow the guide and do everything correct will it be ok?
