  1. Help

has anyone had trouble with TDK dvd-r 4.7 gb discs in the pioneer.

my system has worked brilliantly for a year on several disc brands but i just bought some of these and hell broke loose!

when i put the disc in the drive nothing happens... explorer says there is no disc or eben loses sight of the drive completely...

if i open dvd movie factory it says the disc capacity is 0

i thought the drive had gone wrong but i put a verbatim disc in which i have used b4 and everything immediately came right!

    anyone else had this trouble?

  2. I had burned over 100 TDK DVD-R 1x and 2x, with never a problem. these were the made in Japan Jewel Cases or 15 spindles, and not the made in Taiwan 25/100 spindles.

Have you applied the latest firmware. I had done all my 104 burning since early firmwares so don't think that is inherently the issue.

Do these say TDK on the DVDs themselves. One attempt to buy TDKs gave me a no-names spindle that I'm pretty sure were counterfeit.

  3. hi thanks for your reply

these are TDK data/video discs 1-4x they are grey and bought in a 5 pack each in individual dvd cases.

they are from a major UK retailer so I doubt they are counterfeit.

the writer is one of the original ones when they were launched a couple of years old and i have changed nothing

  4. I have sorted it

the discs are 4x and the original 1.20 firmware cant handle them. I downloaded the firmware v 1.41 upgrade from pioneer and it is fine now

  5. I have the same problem as you, but I can't install the new firmware. When I open it it says "Available Target is Not Found". Anyone know what's going on?
