  1. My sister recorded all of her home movies onto DVD-Rs via a Panasonic DMR-E50. Each DVD has chapters. She used Dvddecrypter to back them up to her hard drive (fileserver with 2-120gb mirrored drives), but instead of using ISO mode she did IFO mode. She did this for 14 of the 16 DVDs.

Is there a way to author a new DVD using the chapter IFO/VOB/BUF files from the various DVDs? We're thinking this screw-up may provide a way to create single event DVDs, like putting all of Grandpa's birthdays on one dvd. I've search this great site and the forums but couldn't find if this is even possible.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

  2. depends what software you have available. freeware wise open the files of one movie with DVD Shrink. CLick Re-author and a new window will open. drag the main movie section from the first window to the second. now back in the first window open the second set of files. repeat the drag and drop. do that will all your sets, or as many as you can fit quality-wise. click back-up in the second window and DVD shrink will out put the files with IFO/BUP sets for it as one DVD. Its basically set up like an episode DVD.

  3. Hey Poppa Meth,
Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try. Is there better software to do this? How about adding menus?

  4. If you want menus and all try TMPGEnc DVD Author. you can import each set of files as a different track to the same DVD project and make your own menus with it. Its a very good basic Authoring program and you can try it out via the 30 day trial. and the trial is completely unlimited. no handicaps to the software while you try it.
