  1. Hi, Im a newbie, can someone tell me how to use dvd shrink 3.0beta 5 cause I have been trying to use it, first I rip my movie with decrypter then when I use dvd shrink 3.0 I choose the video_ts folder then when I try using Image tool Classic 0.90B9 I get an error, cant find the video source, looks lke when I use the dvd shrink I get an Audio _ts folder but I dont have Video_ts folder thats why image tool wont even work , its lookin for Video_ts .
This is what I did. decrypt movie in file mode(everything), then use dvd shrink, open Video_ts folder(tried with menus, etc and also tried with movie only)after encoding I open image tool but cannot find the video_ts folder I can only see Audio_ts folder. I tried the larger file(which is the 7+gig) thers audio and video_ts folder so image tool works on that one but the file is too big.

  2. hi there

you dont have to rip the movie first with DVDDecrypter...

    just use DVDShrink..
open it, and the select, open disk.
select the drive of your dvd

..and when you see all the detalis of your DVD just push backup.

(unless of course you want to remove something... like audio streams, extras, etc)

if you want to re-author just the movie (with no menu, or extras)
select re-author (a new instance will open)
the go back to the previous instance (the one with all you dvd details) and the go to "main movie" select de the main title, right click on it and copy..

the go to the new dvdshrink and just paste the main title.. and select backup...

it will generate the vobs and all the files so you can burn it to a dvd -/+ r with nero or any other burning program...

    good luck

The only time I use Decrypter to put the files on the hard drive is when Shrink can't do it (very rarely and usually because the disk is scratched). So you can use the two together if necessary. The real question is why are you using ImgTool Classic? Are you trying to make an iso file that you can burn with DVDDecrypter?

If that is the reason, you need to make a seperate directory and make two files in that directory---for example, make a new folder and call it Movie. Open up this new folder and make two folders within it, called VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. Then copy the files you made with Shrink into the VIDEO_TS folder. Open Imgtool and use the new folder Movie as your source.

You'll have to designate a place for ImgTool to place the iso image also. Then you can burn with DVDDecrypter.

Here is the guide for all this: http://www.polarhome.com:793/~afonic/imgtool.htm

I suspect the problem here is that IMG tool needs the name of the folder
immediately ABOVE the VIDEO_TS folder instead of VIDEO_TS itself.

I always rip with DVDdecrypter first for several reasons

If you are just starting out and want to learn about DVDShrink, I think the step by step action guide at www.dvdshrink.info is a very good place to start.

It will explain the steps necessary to reduce the size of your movie much better than I can in a post.

If you want to use free tools to burn your dvd onto a disk, the guide I linked earlier will show you how to use Imgtool Classic and DVDDecrypter. It starts with files you have already put on the hard drive with DVDShrink---files that are small enough to fit onto a dvdr disk. Basically, the following is what that guide says:

Create a new folder by right-clicking in an area away from where you put the files made by Shrink. Name it anything you want, say Movie. Open the folder and create two new folders within it named VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS These are the exact names you have to use for these two folders. Copy the files made by Shrink into the VIDEO_TS folder. Open ImgTool and use the folder Movie as your source. You also need to designate where the iso image you are creating will go (a folder somewhere on the hard drive), and the name of this image. Start ImgTool.

When it is done, open DVDDecrypter. Go to Mode and change it to ISO Write. It will tell you to select a file---give it the name of the file you designated in ImgTool when you created the iso image. Then let Decrypter write to your disk in your dvdr drive.

This will work, but will take time and a fair amount of space on your hard drive. I suggest you learn to use Shrink and buy a good burning program.

Copy the files made by Shrink
I recommend Move instead of Copy here. You don't need
an extra 4G on your disk.
