I'm using a P3 550 with 4mb of video till i can get a better video card and using nero vision express 2 software, Iam able to burn a dvd alright but it has small skips every so often in the picture.....would this be caused to the last of video memory at the moment or not.....any suggestions?

i also have sonic mydvd which came with the burner but doesnt seem to run properly cause its says it needs a P3 800 in the manual so i think thats why it doesnt work to well

Neither encoding nor burning has anything to do with your graphics card. Possibly it could cause "skips" during playback of a DVD, but that's not what you meant, was it?
Burning can be done on very humble systems, as long as there is disc capacity to perform the task.

  3. Are the 'skips' when played back on the PC or on a standalone player.

If the former (PC) then it is probably that your system is not fast enough to play back the DVD. If it is the latter (Standalone) then it could be encoding (if they are very regular) or it could be player/media compatibility (if they are random).
