    Hi Joey,

I use MF2 a lot, but just need some more info on your problem.

The 2 movies you added - Were they just 2 single files ( or where there a number of files making up one movie?). If there is more than one file per movie then MF2 will assume them to be separate "movies" and create an item in the menu for each file.

    Hi again Joey,

I think I understand what's happening. It's pretty much what I suspected. I guess when you're importing your "dvd video", what you are actually doing is importing the "VOB"s (DVD movie files) from the Video_TS folders created by DVD Shrink.

Unfortunately each movie is made up of a number of VOBs and MF2 is treating each one as a separate movie. I don't know of any way around this.

If you have TMPGenc plus you could use that to convert the VOB files to one MPEG2 for each movie and then import those 2 MPEG2 files into MF2.

    Hope this helps,

    Moonstomp.

    Joey,

Sorry but none of that software will do what TMPGenc PLUS will.

    Here's a possible solution:

    1. Use DVD2AVI to convert your VOBs to one AVI file. You can get DVD2AVI (free!!) from here: http://arbor.ee.ntu.edu.tw/~jackei/dvd2avi/DVD2AVI_1.77.3.zip

Start DVD2AVI and select "FILE" , "OPEN". Then browse to where your first movie's VOBs are. Choose any of the VOB files and hit "open" on the bottom right. A box should appear with all you VOB files listed. Select them ALL. Now you should be back at the main DVD2AVI screen.

    Choose "FILE", "SAVE AVI".

Now the program will convert your VOBs to ONE AVI file.

2.When it's done for both movies load both AVI files into MF.
You'll have to adjust the "Bitrate" (MPEG settings) in MF
so that your final file size is small enough to fit on one blank DVD.

    3. Fingers crossed.

This is one of the things about movie factory that really irks me.
It treats each individual vob as a seperate identity and wants to
    create thumbnails for each one.
    Some solutions:
Do a search for combine vobs. There are several ways to accomplish this.
I personally burn the vobs to an rw and use dvddecryper to combine them. They then show up in movie factory as a single thumbnail.
To get around this issue I switched to tmpeg dvd author.
It allows you to keep the chapter points and NOT have them show on the
    main menu as individual thumbnails.
I hope this is of some help

    Kiki,

How do you get Decrypter to combine the VOBs to one VOB ??

    Thanks,

    Moonstomp.

    Joey,

How long MF takes to create the DVD files is dependant on many factors.

    1. How fast is your CPU ? (This has a big impact on the processing time.)

    2. In MF2 you should ensure that you have ticked the option"do not re-
encode compliant files". (or something to that effect - not at my
    home PC at the moment).

    3. Also, perhaps Media Player is saving the VOBs as MPEG1's
and not MPEG2's. (if so MF2 WILL have to reencode to
    MPEG format).

Good Luck & Merry Christmas !
