    Looking for a recommendation for an external 8x DVD Burner. I would like it to be capable of Firewire hookup. This would be used on a Mac Powerbook. It needs to be 8x due to the time constraints I will be burning under.

    I'd suggest buying an Internal NEC ND-3500A or Pioneer DVR-108 and putting it in an external case with USB2+Firewire. You'll end up with a cheaper drive that performs better than any ready-built external package currently available.
