  1. Hi everyone. I am a Newbie so please bear with me.

I have produced a DVD which I authored in Spruceup and although this plays fine on a Samsung DVD Sony NS530 will not play the same disc.

I thought I would reauthor and use DVDit, which I know Sony plays. Having looked through this forum I Decrypted with DVDDecrypter, then used DVD2AVi to deode and convert the Vob files. However when I preview the film plays fine but there is no audio although I have set it to WAV and 48-44.1KHz -high. The movies are only3mins or so each and there are 6 movies, which I understood contained the included video and audio streams for each.

I presumed after this stage, when I can get it right, I would use TMPGEnc to encode to MPEG2 and then reauthor?

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong in DVD2AVi? and Am I correct in my presumption?

Your help woul be gratefully appreciated.

Why? DVD requires the audio to be at 48Khz, leave it alone.

  3. Thank You for your reply.

I do not want to touch the sound. It just isn't playing, only the video.

Also when I try to take the dv2 and Linear PCM files created in DVD2AVi TMPGEnc will not accept, either through Browse or drag and drop.

What type of DVDr are you using??? it might be the dye on the dvd, some dye's do not work on all dvd players
try to use only RITEK dye they play in nearly everything (exept vcr's)

  5. I use Sony 510A for burning and a Sony NS530 DVD Player. This plays the same disks I have used in My DVD. PAL format.

My problem starts after I have ripped vob files, then use DVD2AVI and the resulting dv2 and Linear PCM audio files to reencode them using TMPGEnc, which states they are an unsupported file and I cannot be opened.

I am only trying to reauthor them and not use the Spruce Menu.

So the original source of the video is a DVD? You said:

  7. Yes I burned a DVD of my video capture, and authored with SpruceUp. I had a problem in the first place with one of my DVD standalone players not accepting the disk.

My other problem - trying to 'reauthor' with a different prog. than Spruceup, was after ripping and using DVD2AVI, which produced a DV2dv and a PCM linear file from the Title Sets vobs. To author in my DVDit I require MPEG2 and PCM audio. So I have tried the TMPGEnc-plus to reencode but this will not accept the file, saying it is unsupported. Although I copied the instructions of the DVD2AVi.

    Sorry if long-winded reply!

    Thank you.

  8. PS. re 'reauthoring' I should add that I am trying to add these movies to the Menus and movies I already have created in DVDit
