I want to capture to SVCD with VirtualVCR. Is this possible? The reason is because SVCD will be my final format and I just want it for 30 minute TV shows and things like that. I plan to burn to CD-RW and I'd rather not bother caping to something like huffy and then reencoding if I don't have to. Superhigh quality is not a high priority.
In VirtualVCR I can't seem to find an appropiate compression codec. I have intervideo MPEG Video encoder and I select 480x480 and change the bitrate to 2500, but I'm getting a "Could not render filter flow meter ->AVI Mux" error. Not sure what the hell this is. I'm using an Avermedia TV Stereo card with the latest avermedia drivers. I can cap in other formats such as Divx, Xvid, Huffy, etc. I can also cap mpegs and mpeg2 files with my Avermedia software, but the mpegs are VCD and there are no options to cap 480x480 so I can't use the avermedia software for that.
Anyone have ideas?

I also have an AverTV Stereo but have never tried to capture direct to SVCD MPEG-2 format.
The included capture software will allow you to capture at 352x480 and if you use a bitrate of about 2500kbps with 224kbps MP2 audio then you can make what is called a CVD which is basically the same as a SVCD but with a resolution of 352x480 instead of 480x480
The lack of resolution really is not that noticeable and actually helps in that the 2500kbps video bitrate doesn't get "stretched" as much as when you do SVCD which has the ever-so-slightly higher resolution.
If you still want to capture SVCD then you might want to look into something like PowerVCRII or WinDVD Recorder. I haven't tried either but they seem popular from the way other people here talk about them.
