I've read somewhere that when authoring basic VCDs not to worry about de-interlacing if the final product will be shown on a TV, and that's fine with me.
The problem is, however, for another project I'm working on, I simply CANNOT work with interlaced video, as I am going to add special effects to the video, and if the video was interlaced, it would be near impossible to do special effects efficiently.
Is there any way to capture video without it interlacing via Premiere 6.5. I've already selected upper field first. This is what I get now when I capture...
I'm using a Sony DCR-TRV33E via Firewire/IEEE1394.
What I want is to have totally uncompressed video to edit with, so I can add special effects via After Effects, without losing video quality, and have it outputted at the end onto DVD. Also, if it is non-interlaced, and I output onto DVD, will it view correctly on TV?
Thanks a lot guys.

I'm not even gonna pick apart what you've typed..
Rule of thumb...For DVD output, don't deinterlace, or remove a field.
That's the beauty of Mpeg2. It supports interlacing, much like your TV set does..If you deinterlace, or remove a field, like in VCD's, then you're gonna be missing out on half your information...
This shouldn't have anything to do with the special effects that you add..Depending on your project settings, Premiere knows that when you add an effect, to keep it consistent, in regards to field order, and compression....

I simply CANNOT work with interlaced video
You will have to get a new camera or go to extreme lengths
to get progressive frames.
Do read the link that pijetro provided . It's very instructive.
...also ... quit shaking the camera -

You can not capture interlaced video as non-interlaced. There are ways to convert it to non-interlaced. I dont know how interlaced video interacts with adobe after effects but you might wanna check the adobe forums for more info on this.
