I am just starting to do DVD rips and i would like to know which is the best way to encode them, CBR or VBR. I am using TMPGEnc.

I have done a few tests and even though the VBR one should be better, i have noticed the image becomes blocky in some fast scenes, this is with 2450 max, 300 min and 2000 avg.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't care about filesize, use CBR as high as possible. If you want a similar quality, but smaller filesize, use VBR 2pass.
