  1. Hi, all. Clement here.

I thought I'd never post one of these kinds of messages: I have this problem that only happens to me and nobody else with software that everybody uses.... But here goes.

I've been a huge fan of DVD2ONE for a while. Lately, it seems a bit tempermental. It's decided that no matter what I say, it must give me an output of about 3GB and change. This is annoying, as I feel cheated out of a GB of DVD space I could be using. Has anybody else experienced this? I've tried all the obvious stuff like reinstalling....

Thanks for whatever light you can shed on this....

    -Clement

    Check You Output settings.
    Does it say User Defined?
Is the amount there listed 4000 or less?
If so, DVD2OneX could be processing your files
to within 85% of that Target size.

Also, are you doing movie only or disc copy?
you neglected to mention, but some movie copies
can be shorter than 4.3GB--I just did a backup
of "One Good Deed" with Sam Jackson,
and in movie copy, with user defined at 4300MB,
I got a movie copy that was 4.0 even, using variable rather than constant.

I recall somone else having this problem, but honestly dont remembe the fix.

i think a simple reinstall fixed the problem or it was something like stuffit 8.0 was used to extract the .sit and an update for stuffit was needed to correct an improper unstuffing.

see if you cant find the post by doing a search, ill try also and if i find it ill post it obviously.

Try trashing your DVD2OneX prefs file(s), located in your home/library/preferences folder. Make sure you quit and trash DVD2OneX before deleting the prefs, and then go ahead and download or unstuff the latest version of DVD2OneX and install it (copy to app folder), and launch it. It should ask for a serial number. Did it give you any errors during the processing? Did it go to 100%? Is the output from it complete?

  5. Using all the proper settings, DTOX gave me a file that was the right size, 4444, but the weird thing was, Toast said it was too big for my DVD????? My guess is defective media, has anyone else had this happen to 'em?

Not every brand of disc is the same size ... Some can handle a few bytes more, some a few less, than 4.4gb.

4444 was actually an average number I used when writing the tutorial
it was based only on 10 media brands...

if it doesnt fit try something like 4400

either way your probably only a few megs shy of fitting.
