DSS (Drive Speed Selector)

i have a SONY DRU-510A drive (i used firmware to get to that)

i just installed DSS for the first time. has anyone had any trouble with this hurting the drive?

without it i was ripping at about 2-2.5x....MAX

now i'm ripping at upwards of 7.7x (it gets faster as it goes)

this doesn't sound to healthy for the drive?

should i not use it for fear of damage?

i spoke too soon....after it reached 7.7x it slowing drecreased....5.4x and counting....
