I recently authored my first DVD using TMPGEnc DVD author. I am having some sound problems. When I try to play the finished DVD in my stand-alone player there is no sound when using a digital bitstream connection between the player and the receiver. Sound comes through fine if I change the DVD Player's digital audio out setting from bitstream to PCM.
    What's the problem here?

FYI, Here's my process and equipment:

    Dell Dimension 4600 3.0 Ghz Pentium 4 w/800MHZ FSB & 512 MB RAM
    ATI Radeon AIW 7500
    Sony DRU 500-AX DVD Burner
    ATI Multimedia Center 8.5
    TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5
    Nero 5

I captured the video in Highest Quality MPEG2 with ATI MMC 8.5.
I then imported the clips to TMPGEnc DVD Author and Edited and Authored the DVD.
I then used Nero to burn it to a DVD+RW.
I have tried playing it on both a Toshiba SD2800 and a Pioneer DV-405 with similar sound problems both times. Sound works fine in my computer's DVD-ROM drive played w/ PowerDVD. Sound also works fine if Analog out is used from the DVD player to the receiver.
Could this be a problem with my Pioneer Sound Receiver in my Home Theater System?

    Please Help!

    Thanks.

    Michael

Are you using mp2/mpeg1 layer 2 audio? Then you must output it as PCM because most receivers don't support it.

Use AC3 audio if you want your receiver to decode it.
