  1. I posted this also in the Hardware section, but hopefully some here can help:

My Sony VAIO w/ DVD+/-RW just recently started giving my problems when burning DVD-r's using TMPEGenc DVD Author. The computer is only 2 months old, but all of a sudden when I go to burn my authored projects they get maybe 1/4 done and then will say completed and eject the disc. The screen doesn't give any errors, just stops burning and the disc doesn't play at all!

The first few months, everything worked fine! TMPGenc was awesome and all the projects I created burned perfectly. I've now wasted 10 or so dvd-r's trying to figure this out! It will occasionally burn OK on a DVD-RW, but then I'll use a DVD-R and it will create this problem! I've even tried restoring my computer's C drive to the original factory setting and re-installing the software hoping somehow a driver got corrupted. But I get the same problems.

Is my DVD+/-RW drive faulty? It plays fine, but the burning is screwing up. I have a warrenty, but am hoping someone can shed some light on what might be happening.

Thanks to all for your great help! (sorry for the long explanation).

    -Jeff
