  1. could someone please tell me if i am doing something wrong when burning my ripped image(dvd shrink+nero)from my hard-drive onto -R discs as when following the same process using a +R disc as opposed to the -R`s i get a perfect result whereas with the -R discs play for a short while but then keep sticking and eventually just freezing. someone has suggested to me it may be due to a dodgy batch of discs but it is frustrating as i am only new to this and dont know if i am maybe doing something wrong. i have searched for a solution on the site but cant seem to find one! any help would be greatly appreciated. PLEASE HELP!

  2. The Liteon 411S has problems with burning DVD-R video disks.
Try updating the firmware with DR4FSOS.zip, available from
    http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/english/index-english.htm
Mouse over Services and click on Firmware.

I'm still having problems with cheap DVD-R disks even with this firmware and hope they come out with another Firmware update soon. For now I anly use the liteon 411s for +R and +/- RW.

  5. I have had zero problems with this drive, I upgraded the firmware as soon as I got it, and have been burning on dvd-r and dvd+r (memorex).

p.s. - The memorex is cheap, 25 for $27 if you print out the amazon.com price and take it in to staples for the 110% price match.
