  1. ok im backing up my copy of scarface and its almost 3 hours long and i dont want it on 3 cdr's so is there a prog that is better then tmpgenc to make it smaller when i compress?

    Well, I don't know about 'better', but you could try CinemaCraft encoder. If you want it to fit on two disks with any encoder, you will have to either get rid of 'extras' or lower the bitrate. Lowering the bitrate will lower the quality, it depends on what quality you want for the finished product.

    Edit: 3 'CDR's ? What program are you using.

  3. wow, 3 hours on 3 cdrs means 1hour per. which means the quality is already low, you want 1.5hours of movie on 2 cdrs... its gonna look bad, but just lower the bit rate w/ tmpgenc. Use VBR, to help make the picture look better, but I would put it on 4 cds myself.

    Mpeg can only be "compressed" by lowering the bitrate, and it can only be lowered so much before it starts to look bad. If you use VCD resolution and VBR encoding then you can get 1.5 hrs on a disk and it won't be too bad, if VCD is acceptable to you.
