  1. Hi everyone, I am a total newbie to all this burning stuff and I have just bought myself a Lite-On DVD Burner... I am making a movie with some friends of mine and I have edited it using Adobe Premiere... Now, how do I take the edited movie and transfer it onto a DVD-R that is watchable on my Sony DVP-S530 DVD Player... I can't even find the edited movie file except for the project file... Basically I don't know what format my edited movie is in and the only way I know how to get to it is by opening Premiere and opening the project... I need some serious help please! I am totally new to all this...

First and foremost - Did your Lite-On drive come with any software, like Sonic MyDVD, Pinnacle Studio, or something of that nature? If it did, these programs will allow you to make a simple, decent dvd presentation. My Lite-On, packaged as a Buslink Drive, came with the Sonic MyDVD. It is really easy to use, it lets you choose which movie files you want (.avi, .mpeg, .m2p, etc) and it automatically imports them and makes all the menus and buttons for you.

Second - Premiere. You say you have a project started. When you have finished it, you can export a movie file that you can load into your DVD authoring software. To do this, select File>Export Timeline>Movie... or you can type Ctrl+M to open the Export to Movie window. Most of the DVD authoring software I have used recognizes the AVI file type and encodes it into mpeg2, so you can save it as a Microsoft AVI, or if you are using firewire capture, Microsoft DV AVI. Your movie will then be ready to import and burn to the DVD, or to Export to Tape.
