Well, theres your problem. Get out of the whole website faze, thers very little websites hold now. Forums, thats the extent of it, although friends on IRC prove very helpfull.

I'd say, go to mirc.com, familiarize yourself with it, and hit the newbie channels, just for a night or so. When your ready to venture out, you'll stumble upon a few. Lets say, your hard drive space will depleate alot quicker than if you stuck with http sites :-þ, although oth.net is a nice ftp search engine, but most are ratio and banner, which are no good to us broadband users.

Morpheus is the way to go. It's a file sharing program, not a site, though. You can find almost any song you like, it's fast and resumes broken downloads.
