  1. You find wmv or mp4 in HD for download from most pay sites, but what do they use to convert original
    Bluray or HDcamcorder?
Anyone know what program is used most often

I think you have it backwards.
Give an example of a "pay site" -- like iTunes or Amazon VOD, you mean?

I have the spec sheets on those.

  3. No Ha Ha, I'm talking more about the adult sites like brazzers, DDf etc. They used Hd cameras but always release
in wmv or mp4. I've just bought a pany Hd cam 60p and wonder what program yields the best results. I'd rather store
the files as wmv or mp4 than mpg. hard drive are cheap now but still would like to save space

  6. There is a variety of standalone encoders, editors, applications and those use different encoders. Lots of stuff is processed on Macs and therefore they use different things then Windows. Mac has Final Cut Pro and encoder is Compressor, iMovie has its module perhaps, might be more Quick Time oriented. Windows users can use Premiere, Vegas, Corel editors and they have their encoders within such as MainConcept modules etc.
And there is a small part of editors using x264 encoder, ffmpeg and they come with variety of software also.
There is a lot of converters over net, that are being used also, but who knows what their engine is, maybe they use ffmpeg and such and make money selling software even there are free alternatives out there but you know it it is nicely advertised packed with golden buttons to press and it is done.

  7. I think I should have posted this in Editing. I'm sure they use an editing program and output it into the various
formats. I plan on keeping my own videos in the original stream folders, but want to edit and save in .wmv or mp4
    rather than 1080p mpg.
