  1. Good day.

Just wanted to ask anyone who has the JVC GR-D70U or D90U MINI-DV CAMERA if these units support analog-digital / digital-analog passthrough. I am planning to get myself one if ever they have this feature.

    tnx. God Bless

  2. I believe that both the 70 & the 90 have pass-through capability. They are identical except for the size of their LCD. I was looking into bying the 90 a while ago but didn't buy it. The description below implies that it can act as a pass through and also allow you to record it to mini DV if you wanted to do that for whatever reason

"The camcorders analog input, features a built-in Analog to Digital converter that will convert the analog audio/video signal, to a digital signal, and can be recorded to a DV tape"

Interestingly...the 800 is worded differently which implies that it doesn't act as a pass through...only allowing recording to a mini DV

"This feature allows you to record into the camcorder all of your memories recorded in the analog format, by allowing you to archive them onto Mini DV tape"

I have a JVC GR-D50EK which does have pass-through capability and it works well, ie transfer is very reliable, but, the quality of the picture is very poor, so poor my ATI All in wonder card is better video Quality, (Only Just).

The camcorder quality is however very very good.
