Short answer :yes and no.
Long answer: The program to have the older versions of Windows read and write NTFS is to use NTFS DOS. It is expensive. Mostly used by Sys Admins to use DOS commands to fix problems with NT formated computers.
To save time, don't even try to look for a cracked or full demo version. I needed a full version to prove that it was a needed tool for the department. Couldn't even find a cracked version to prove we needed to buy it.(Stupid bean counters need to have their machines replaced with a Pentium Pro running XP)
Either buy an old used Win2K machine to get a legal copy of the OS. Recover the key, backup your data, and upgrade your machine.
Or buy a copy of XP Pro. XP Pro is better than home.
As a warning, we have had about a 30% failure rate upgrading machines to XP. They work for a while, then they start getting flaky or stop booting. Wipe and install, same thing. -
I haven't had a failure rate with a clean install of XP on a machine previously running another OS. Unfortunately to get a full version of XP Pro you either have to buy it alone, which usually cost a lot, or do what I did and get a $30 piece of computer hardware so you can get XP Pro with it for ~$150. For someone running ME I'd say the $200 spent to get a full version of XP Pro is totally worth it. I had ME on a machine for all of 3 weeks before I "accidentally" threw it onto the floor. It's the bastard child of the Windows OS.

Quick fix. WindowsME blows get anything besides ME. It's the worst program ever invented. Your better off with 98se on there. You can get Xp for about $85.00(no software just key) or $130 (CD+key).

Xp keys from PCBASE.com
Pricewatch.com Xp Keys
Scroll down about half way and you'll see them. If the link doesn't work. Go to www.pricewatch.com - click software - operating systems - click OS. -
i had XP running on Multiboot on my machine before, alongside ME, and Xp wouldnt recognise my USB keyboard and mouse, so i could get no further than the login screen. is there a quick fix for this that doesnt require a new keyboard and mouse with PS/2 connections?
if i could get this to work, i will convert my Hard Drive to NTFS after my XP is running
PLEASE help with this, it is so annoying
SO to recap - its DEFINITELY not possible to use this 4.34GB DVD iso on my ME machine with FAT32?
Thanks for your help so far people - greatly appreciated
