  1. I capture TV shows from satillite in DVD compatible format and want to cut commercials. My audio is captured in LPCM. the TMPGEnc tool (merge - cut) drops the LPCM audio. MPG-VCR converts the LPCM to Mpeg-2. Interestingly, both programs can play the source file (with LPCM) just fine and can de-mutiplex okay. (My goal is to create a new program file without commercials, de-multiplex, convert LPCM to ac-3 and author dvd)

    Thank you.

  2. I thought MPGVCR, when you hit save, has an audio tab that lets you specify what audio format it will be. I'm not at home so I cant check.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:

    Capture:
VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

Is there a reason why you want ac-3? Mp2 & ac-3 are very similar in size, and most DVD players play mp2.

It is my understanding the mp2 is of lesser quality. Further, I live in an NTSC country where mp2 is not compatible with all set top players - like the JVC in my living room
