  1. Hi,

Last week, I purchased PX-708A internal drive and installed that in external Firewire/USB2.0 enclosure. I installed ez CD / DVD Creator vet 6.0 from Roxio (bundled) on Windows 2000 Professional machine. Also, I have Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD ver 7.0 installed on my computer.

Over the week end, I tried to burn my First DVD. I transferred video from Camcorder to harddisk, edited those AVIs and created nice menu, chapters and transition effects using DVD BUilder from ez CD / DVD creator. All went well. I previewed that DVD using built-in preview function.

While burning DVD, I specified that ISO Image be created.

Next, I burned DVD+RW (media OptoDisc 2.4X) from that ISO image. It did not give any error or warning while burning. When I tried to play that DVD+RW in my DVD player, it recognized that disc as CD-DA and did not do anything.

When I tried to play burned DVD+RW in built-in software dvd player (Roxio player), it played DVD+RW but all Video was blue as if you are watching that DVD using dark blue glasses. Bright Red became Dark / nevy blue. Yellow became sky blue etc. All I see is Blue just like shapea blue.
My Questions: Can video DVD+RW or DVD-RW be played on DVD Player?
what could be the poblem? What might have caused this?

Later I decided to risk one DVD-R so I burned on DVD-R 4x (media OptoDisc 4X). Burning went fine. I tried to play DVD-R on software DVD player (Roxio player), result was same: Every thing Blue no cahnge.

I tried same DVD-R on DVD player, and surprisingly video and Audo is OK. Original color and original recorded/dubbed audio. Only problem is: while playing, At times, it gets jitter, click sound in Audio and frozen frames every one in a while.

What Could be the problems or reasons for this? Who is at fault? DVD burner (Plextor PX-708A), or ez CD/DVD creator software or roxio DVD player?

Also, I noticed that ISO file created by ez CD/DVD creator can not be used by Pinnacle InstantCD/DVD application.

What am I missing? Any idea? Any help will be appreciated.

    thanks in advance.

  2. I'm just guessing here. I think your stand alone DVD player is fine. It just can't play any DVD RW variety. I think maybe 50% of the players can't play DVD RW media.

I think there's something wrong with your DVD playing software. Try another software, such as CyberLink's PowerDVD, or Intervideo's WinDVD.

And, as far as the jitters, try using better media. If the problem doesn't go away, something may be wrong with your DV to MPG encoder settings.

    Good luck.

  3. Don't know if this will help you but I had much better results using the Instant CD/DVD package when I created a DVD-RW then copied it (using InstantCopy with auto resize) to a DVD-R.

This worked for me!! It certainly seemed to help on the jitter/skip side of things.
