  1. I have a AC3 DivX avi file. When I play in Windows media player there is no sound, however when I play in the media alternative player there is sound.

    How can i convert this file to SVCD with sound?

    File Properties:

    Width: 576 pixels
    Height: 240 pixels
    Bit rate: 448 kbps
    Frame rate: 23 frames/second
    Date rate: 161 kbps

    1. Install the AC3 codec, check your file with Gspot if you're not sure.
    2. Check for bad frames. (see below.)
    3. Extract the audio to wav using Goldwave, just load the avi and then save.
    4. Use your avi as the video source and the wav as the audio source for TMPGEnc, convert to SVCD compatible mpeg.
    5. Author and burn.

  3. When I try to open the file in VirtualDub...I get a "Couldn't locate a decompressor for the format DIV3"

    You need the divx3 codec. Gspot will test your avi files and tell you if you have the required audio and video codecs. Check the Tools section and get the codecs as needed.
