  1. I'm trying to put Ice Age and Shrek onto a single DVD so I can copy to VHS (I don't mind my nephew playing with the VCR but not the DVD Player).

I have TMPGenc (registered), DVD Decrypter, Easy CD+DVD Platinum 6, Clone DVD, Pinnacle Instant Copy (playing up) and DVD Shrink 2.3. I've ripped both movies to my HDD using DVD Decrypter, I'musing the guide to Shrink DVD but whenever I open the 2nd DVD it refreshes the screen and I loose the first DVD so I can't rip both DVDs like the guide is saying. All I want is to have the basic movies, no subtitles, no menus just something that I can put onto a single DVD and record to VHS so my nephew can watch them when he comes over.

i don't quite know what you mean by refreshes the screen, but as long the the RE-AUTHORING window is still open you can drag as many titles to it as you wish. so do not close the re-authoring window when you bring up the second title (which BTW can be accessed from the original first window (when you introduced the first movie) instead of opening a new session of Shrink. good luck

  3. Since you have both movies on DVD already, why don't you start them on your DVD stand alone player and record only what you want to your VCR. Very simple and easy to do. If your VCR has extended play speed, you can put both movies on one VHS tape.

  4. maybe he has not hacked his dvd player yet. it's on the left side, Gastrian. or maybe it isn't hackable

  5. I'm pretty sure that those DVDs have macrovision, so unless he has something to defeat the macrovision, direct copy to VHS wouldn't really do him any good.

I'd try updating to the newest bersion of DVDShrink, which is v3beta5. You might have a little more success.

with almost 900 posts to your credit you aren't serious, right but if you are...

check out the DVD HACKS section to the left. opps, you didn't know about that, did you
want to buy some of my DVD-VHS tapes? quality is actually good on a 31" set.

  7. Sorry about that, I forgot about the macrovision. What a stupe I am. The only problem with shrinking the movies so that they fit onto one DVD burnable, is that the picture quality will suffer greatly. When you record them to VHS, the picture would be very grainy.

    read my posts above.
the compiled dvdr will actually be quite good cuz the movies are animations. don't forget to use Deep Analysis though (ver 3.0b5)...that is if you want to make the dvdr just for the heck of it.
VHS quality will not be too grain if you record at standard speed (ie maybe each movie on its own tape, or a 160 min tape for both if it will fit). i 've done Shrek a long time ago and it looks really good. go for the hack if your DVD player is listed. good luck.

  9. Gastrian, as andkiich hinted, you will need v3.0b5 to make your compilation.
This "feature" does not exist in v2.3.

some dvd players are not hackable to get rid of macrovision (cyberhome 302 springs to mind)

I guess its a longer process (not much more effort) and your nephew ain't fussed about quality but I thought I'd still mention it just in case anyone has simliar ideas that wont contain animation

do you not have a RW?

why not just shrink them to 4.37Gb each and burn one and record to VHS then burn the next and record it afterwards

all the extra usertime/effort it will take is the time it takes you to click erase RW and then the time it takes to set it away burning again. You dont have to watch it burn/erase the DVD

    Doesn't DVD Decrypter remove Macrovision?
