After capturing a TV program (72 min.) in MPEG2, the file size is 5.2GB which can't fit on a disc. I know DVDShunk can compress already authorized files. Can anyone tell me is there any program that can compress MPEG2 files before authoring. Many thanks.

  2. Sort of, its called an encoder. Thats the only way I know of, i.e. re-encode. Choose from TmpGenc, CCE, Mainconcept, Procoder and others.

  3. Try downloading Rejig from www.rejig.org

1 - Import the mpeg and demux the audio.

2 - Run the video stream with an appropriate reduction (make it around 80% of the original size).

3 - Wait 5 minutes for it to complete your rejigged video stream and either remux with the audio or import the separate streams into your authoring software.

You should be very pleased with the results from an 80% reduction.
