Has anyone been able to successfully rip to svcd:
"Close Encounterz of the Third Kind--Special Edition" dvd.
I am having the same jerk playback, stuttering problems, which plaguez us svcd'ers. So far, i've done about a dozen or so svcd's and they all play fine on the 1500. Even ones done from divx, vhs and dvd. Except for the last two dvd rippz.
After a week n a half, 4 cdr coasters, three different encoders (lsx, cce, tmpgenc), and testing full 800 mg, and 25mg and 100mg test clipz on cdr and cdrw media (fuji, verbatim and sony), my latest svcd still jerks uncontrollably. Funny thing is my buddy tried it on cdrw on his pioneer 434, (i think that's the model), and it playz fine, with great quality according to him.
So, either i got real bad ripp or i'm doing something wrong.
I tried using flask (0.594 and 0.6) to lsx; dvd2avi .d2v to avisynth & mpeg2dec and it encodes fine, go to burn at 4x, 8x, 12x with nero (5.03 or some earlier version) burns it fine, no complaints on not being compliant, (nero 5.5xx doesnt work well with my plextor), and still nothings seems to fix the jerk(iness).
The movie is 137 minutes long and originally i though it was the low bitrate i was using (to get it to fit on 2 cdr)
1500 to 1730, then i up'ed it to anywhere between 1900 to 2300 for video and audio from 96 to 224 and still doesnt work. At this point i dont care if it takes 5 cdr as long
as it plays well.
any thoughts are welcomed.
