    If you put the cheaper 2x media in the E100hs, does it still make a digital lossless dub to DVD-R?

    It should. "High Speed Dubbing" is "digital lossless dubbing," period. The speed of the media limits how fast the burner can burn -- that's a whole different thing. Just call it "not quite as high speed dubbing." The main thing is that it is not re-encoding the video, no matter what speed of media you use.
