uhm.. yeah. I put this in the same league as people who ask if they can burn DVDs with the CDRW. If you could then why would everyone buy the expensive DVD burner? Same answer. if it works so greatly then why are we using DVD?

  2. the whole HD-BURN thing is cool, but isnt it kind of like the dual layer cd-r drive sony made a few years back. it being the only drive that can burn and read them.

well their little "comic" seems to suggest that DVD players can read them.

  4. if you go to the website it mentions something about them providing the code to the manufacturers so that existing dvd players & dvd-roms can read the discs.. but how many manufacturers are going to make it so that you can cd-r upgrade/hack their players?

cd-r still has its place, but as far as providing high quality (and archival life), dvdr owns that.

  6. I have the Optorite DD0203 and it supports HD-BURN but I haven't tried it and not likely to because only Sanyo drives support it.What happens when my Optorite takes a crap and I buy another brand writer..those HD-BURN disks are worthless, also HD-BURN only works on TY and MCC CD's.

BTW..I seriously doubt any standalone manufacturers will support HD-BURN...no PC drive manufacturers(other than Sanyo) have yet.
