Hello everybody!
I have subtitle workshop and would like to watch movies with russian subtitles. But they are not readable. It has nothing to do with windows because with every other program the letters work fine.
I don't even want to burn a DVD or anything, I just want subtitle workshop to display the characters correctly.
Does anybody have an idea or a different subtitle program?
I tried switching the language in settings. But that only changed the other characters (like "setting", "tools" etc) in cyrrilic, my subtitles still didn't work. Of course I've tried several different subtitles, so it's not just this one file.
I hope you can help me,
bmimikry

I understand your post. I am an English speaker who studied Russian and a few years ago I had some problems trying to use some subtitle tools with Russian subtitles. To get SubRip to work so I could read the subtitles into a text file, I had to change the language of my PC to CP-1251. Note that you MUST change the language to CP-1251 as Unicode won't work for this. It's a problem where programs like Subtitle Workshop are not Unicode aware. Under "Regional and Lanugage Options" in the Control Panel, you have to go to "Advanced" and change the language there to Russian and be sure that 1251 is selected.
If you are sure that you changed the language to CP-1251 and not simply Russian Unicode than I can't help.
