  1. I currently have a cd-rw, dvd-rw cd-rom and hd. The way I have it setup is primary: cd=master, hd=slave ; secondary: cd-rw=master, dvd-rw=slave. I'm having trouble backing up dvd's from the hd to dvd-rw and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it. I currently tried nero 6 from roxio because of compatibility issues but for some reason the dvd option in nero is blanked out but I can select the drive so.. If anyone can provide some feedback on how my system is suppose to be setup, I would really appreciate it. I currently have roxio 6 on winxp home ed. with a nec 1300a dvd-rw. Tried nero 6. (1052 or 1042) and I use dvdshrink 3.0. When I burn on roxio as an iso, it plays fine on my computer dvd drives but won't play in any other dvd player or ps2 (version &). I tried some memorex and tdk 4x dvd-r but they just won't play in any player except my computer drives. Again, thanks in advance for any feedback.

    What an odd configuration....

Dump the CDROM, it's redundant and not remotely needed.

Put your HD as Primary master.

Put your DVDRW as Secondary master.

Your done. Notice you have 2 extra CD drives. You have to ask the question: Is a 16x CDR burn good enough? The CDROM drive isn't even an option.

Make sure UDMA is working (I can pretty much guarantee it wasn't given your configuration).

  3. try burning it as a dvd not a data file on a data DVD. use a dvd authoring tool. Thats why it plays on your Pc but not on any set top as its not recognized as a dvd. Some newer Dvd players will allow you to just burn mpgs / avi to dvd as files and they will play eg yamada dvx6100.

Also 1 dvd-rom to read, 1 dvd-writer to write & 1 ring to rule them all!
