  1. All,

    I have terrible problems with my LiteOn LVD-2001. No matter what media, whether it be a store-bought DVD or something I've burned myself, I'll get occasional flashes of blue screen that take over the entire screen. They can last as little as a few seconds, or even several seconds; regardless, it's quite annoying. I sent an e-mail to LiteOn and got this response:

    DIY test: playback it and the power-cycle your player at least twice, with 30 minutes break between.

    I read the manual, and I don't understand what they're talking about. If anyone's had this same problem, or can help with how to power cycle, I'd be most appreciative.

    Thanks/hawkeyeJP

    Did you do a firmware upgrade? If so, did you have the same problem with the first firmware?

  3. Had this problem from the get-go. Upgraded to 0227 upon arrival, had blue screen problems and wrote Lite-On about them. They wrote back and said to upgrade to firmware version 0229 which was coincidentally released, so I did. Same blue screen problems as before, although not for certain I'd say I have more problems with store-bought DVDs.

    Thanks for catching me, I should have posted my firmware history.

    You wrote;

    Are these flashes by any chance during scenes where the screen is extremely bright, like during a scene with lightning?
    And can you reproduce the error, does it occur on the same spot of the movie.
    Last question, how did you connect the LteOn to your TV?

    I had the same problem with their manual. It's POORLY written. Have you tried another cable or input to the monitor?
