I have the TDK 440n, can I use Memorex DVD+RW 4x media with it? Or can I only use slower media?

theres a link on the left hand of the screen under OTHER called DVD WRITERS. click on that and search for your model

The speed rating on the discs means that is how fast the disc is certified to write on a burner. If you have a 2x burner, then the 4x media will burn at the highest speed of your burner which would be 2x. The only time something like this will really cause an issue is if the burner can record faster than the media is certified. In which case one of 3 things could happen. A - The disc will burn at the top speed and be OK, B - the burner will only burn as fast as it thinks it can for hte media inserted, or C - the disc will try and burn and fail.
Now the question is, is it worth you spending more money on media that your burner cannot take advantage of? -
I had checked the DVD Writers link but it didn't specifically answer my question. No one had rated the Memorex +RW media on it yet and I couldn't find anything saying if higher speed discs are backwards compatible.
I knew a 4x burner could burn 2x discs if you made it slow down, but I wasn't sure if 4x discs were compatible with a 2.4x burner (because they could be formatted differently or something). Anyways thanks for laying out how it all works for me
As for why I bought more expensive 4x discs? I was in a hurry and they were all that Staples had at the time.
Thanks again!
